NEW SWIMMER ASSESSMENTS

Tuesday, May 31 are new swimmer assessments at OSRC. All new Otters are required to come for a brief assessment and meet the coaches. Here is the LINK to the Sign-Up. Team Reps will be available at this time for any questions.

PRACTICE TIMES & UPDATES

After school practices for the Otters begin this Wednesday, June 1st! Please click HERE for the schedule. We recognize that children may have other sport conflicts over the next few weeks - please come to practice when you can! A team rep will be available during the practices the first week (June 1-3) if you have any questions.

We will have optional (and encouraged) weekend practices on June 4 and 5 for those swimmers interested. Click HERE for practice times.

Do you have a swimmer who needs some extra practice with their start and/or their flip turns? If so, have your child attend the “Starts & Turns” clinic held from June 1-10 (Mon-Fri) from 7:30-8 PM.

Pup practices will start on June 13th. Pup practices are held Monday-Thursday from 11-11:30 AM.

Attention Otters - please note that there has been a slight change to the morning practice schedule beginning June 13. Please visit SWIMTOPIA to see the updated schedule. We thank you for your patience as we plan for the season and meeting the needs of all age groups.

PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS

Parents are not permitted on deck during morning practices during the season. Parents are welcome to watch practices from the grassy areas surrounding the OSRC. Practices are on a tight schedule and our coaches focus and attention must be on swimmer safety. For the safety of all swimmers, please do not talk to the coaches during practices. Please email us, or our head coach if you have questions or concerns.

For our younger swimmers who may need help, we encourage you to help them put on caps and goggles before sending them on deck. Coaches will also be available to assist as needed.

TIME TRIALS - JUNE 11th

What are Time Trials and why is it important that everyone attends?

Time trials is an opportunity for every swimmer (NOT Otter Pups) to swim every stroke to get an official time. These times are used to seed the first A meet of the season. The coaches understand that not all swimmers are able to swim all strokes and if they feel that your child is not ready to swim a particular stroke, they will not have your child swim that stroke. If you absolutely can not attend time trials, please contact us ASAP.

ACTION ITEM: RSVP for time trials ASAP. Sign ups will close on Wednesday 6/8 at 9am. If you are not signed up by that date, we will assume you are unavailable for time trials.

SWIMTOPIA

Throughout the season, we use SwimTopia to manage our SCHEDULE. This is where families will RSVP for events, sign up for B Meets, and declare their availability for A Meets.

To prepare for A Meets, it is critical that the coaches know who is available to swim. Although you will be able to change your availability throughout the season, it helps the coaching staff if you take the time to declare your A Meet availability as soon as possible. We ask that ALL swimmers declare their availability for ALL A Meets by Friday, June 10 using the instructions linked below. Please note that lack of declaration for A-meets will be an assumed “unavailable.” We encourage you to RSVP for all events at this time and subscribe to our schedule! Please note that any additional updates that families need to make should be done by noon on the preceding Monday for A Meets and by Saturdays at noon for B Meets.

Directions for how to declare swimmer availability can be found HERE.

VOLUNTEERING

Registration for the swim team closes on June 1 at 12:00 PM.

Set a reminder for Thursday, June 2. Volunteer sign-ups will open at 8 PM on Thursday, June 2. We strongly encourage you to sign up ASAP so that you can schedule your commitment when it is most convenient for you. As many of you know, sign-ups fill up quickly, so your prompt attention to this is important. Click HERE to review relevant procedures for how to sign up.

Volunteer sign-ups will close on June 8 at 9:00 AM. After that date, you will be assigned volunteer roles that you are required to fulfill. If you have questions about volunteering, please click HERE for FAQ, or Team Website.
