Hello and Happy New Year!

It’s never too early to start thinking about sunny days and the Oakton Otter summer season! We are now accepting applications for coaching and pup assistant positions for the 2023 season. Please click HERE to apply. The deadline for all applications is Monday, January 31, 2023.

Things to consider before applying for a position with the Otters:

Coaching Positions

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 15 years of age & a rising sophomore.
• Must obtain a lifeguard certification and provide us with a copy of the certification before the start of the season.
• Must obtain a state work permit if under age 16.
• Should be available for the majority of the NVSL season. Priority will be given to those who are available for the entire NVSL season. Planned time off must be communicated in advance of the season. Requests for additional time off will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Time off greater than seven days will result in a commensurate reduction in salary.
• Our ideal candidate will bring a positive attitude and tons of energy. They will emphasize engaging with swimmers, the importance of teamwork, and have experience with communicating and motivating swimmers of all abilities to achieve their goals (including having fun!).

On February 1st, after reviewing the applications, selected applicants will receive a Sign-Up Genius link for a virtual interview with head coach, Laura Branton. Final decisions will be communicated by the beginning of March.

Pup Assistants

Pup Assistants are a volunteer position. No experience is required - just a positive attitude and a love for all things Otters!.

Qualifications:

• Applicants must be 13 years old and a rising 8th grader.
• Pup Assistants will not interview. Applicants will be notified towards the end of February and will meet with Coach Laura and the Pups Team before the beginning of the season in May.
