YEAR-ROUND/CLUB SWIMMING
Many of our Otters love summer swim so much that by the end of the season, they are eager to join club teams that swim during the school year. Please note that 2023-2024 registration is now open for many local club swim teams and it fills up fast. Many of our coaches and reps have experience with several local clubs. Please reach out to any of us if you’d like to learn more about the various options. While this is not a comprehensive list, please see registration timelines for 3 club teams popular among Otter families:
- York Swim Club (registration opens this week)
- Mako Swimming (registration open now through Aug 1)
- Machine Aquatics (registration open now)
SWIM LESSONS
If you are looking for private swim lessons for your child, please contact one of our coaches. You can read their bios and get contact information here. Any OSRC members can arrange for lessons with our coaches.
HOW IS A MEET SHEET CREATED?
Have you ever wondered how a meet sheet for an A meet is created? It takes hours for our coaches to plan and develop a meet sheet for an A meet. They look over our ladder, as well as the competitor’s ladder. They place our swimmers in the events that they feel give the Otters the best chance to win. The coaches are looking at your child’s availability to make the meet sheet. It is a challenge for our coaches to place a swimmer in an A meet and find out later they are not available. Our coaches want all of our swimmers to be available if they are called on for an A meet.
It is very important that you declare your swimmers’ availability for all A Meets. Even if you don’t think they have the “fastest times” to swim, you never know - we may need them if that helps the Otters! Please mark your child(ren) AVAILABLE or UNAVAILABLE. If you know for certain that your child is not available to swim, please enter “unavailable”.
